Aspiring campus journalists of Gen. T. De Leon National High School (GTDLNHS) strengthened their journalistic knowledge and skills during the first day of the Campus Journalism Training 2026—held on July 25 at the Bldg. A Library.

The whole-day training featured specialized sessions in different fields of journalism, providing participants with practical knowledge and techniques essential for campus press work and journalism competitions.

The morning session began with News Writing, facilitated by Ms. Francia San Miguel, Assistant Principal of GTDLNHS, followed by Feature Writing led by Ms. Mary Darlene Burgos, School Paper Adviser of Punturin Senior High School.

In the afternoon, participants explored the fundamentals of Photojournalism under Assoc. Prof. Ramer V. Oxino of the Philippine Normal University (PNU)–Manila before concluding the day’s activities with Column Writing, conducted by Ms. Allyza Dine Caybot, Education Program Specialist II of the Department of Education, NEAP.

Throughout the training, participants engaged in discussions and writing activities designed to enhance their news gathering, storytelling, visual reporting, and opinion writing skills while reinforcing the principles of ethical and responsible journalism.

The organizers also expressed their gratitude to Barangay General T. De Leon for providing meals and refreshments, whose support contributed to the successful conduct of the training and the welfare of the participants.

The Campus Journalism Training continues to equip student journalists with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to uphold truth, accuracy, and responsible reporting as they prepare for future campus journalism endeavors and competitions.
